Real-Time Balance Check Add-On Now Available
The Real-Time Balance Check Add-On is now available through the Visa Open Banking Solutions pre-integration that’s part of Dwolla’s Open Banking Services! This allows clients using the Visa pre-integration to check the real-time balance in a bank account, with the user’s consent, before pulling money from it to cover a transaction, and helps reduce the risk of returns due to insufficient funds. Please note that a client has to use instant account verification (IAV) through the Visa pre-integration in order to use real-time balance check.
If you already have an account with Dwolla, please reach out to your account manager or relationshipmanagement@dwolla.com to get access to Dwolla’s Open Banking Services, including real-time balance check. If you’d like to learn more about Dwolla and explore how our solution could work for your use case, please reach out to our sales team to schedule a payments consultation.

Transfer Webhook Data Available on Transfer Details Page
Before, if you wanted to see webhook data about a transfer, you had to scroll through an endless list of webhooks in a completely different section of the Dashboard. Now, you can now see that data for each transfer right on the Transfer Details page! Simply open up the Transfer Details for a transfer and then click the Webhooks tab to see related webhook data. This new feature builds on the recent enhancements to the Transfer Details page and offers greater transparency and insights into the status and history of transfers—all in one comprehensive view!

In August, Dwolla started the Form 1099-K process for tax year 2024, including notifying those who at this point qualify for a Form 1099-K, meaning they have received more than $5,000 for goods and services through the Dwolla platform so far in 2024. We’ll continue monitoring eligibility and notifying those who become eligible through the end of the year.

Dwolla Koala Update: AI Integrated into Search
You can now access Dwolla Koala, Dwolla’s AI assistant, via the search bar in our Developer Documentation and Support Portal! Navigate to the search bar, and click the AI icon on the right side. From there, type in your question, and Dwolla Koala will use its knowledge to find relevant and helpful information for you. If you want to do a standard search instead of an AI search, simply select the “Search” functionality vs. “Ask AI.”
Quickbooks Integration Sunset
Our focus at Dwolla is developing best-in-class account-to-account (A2A) payment solutions that help our clients succeed in a quickly changing payments landscape. While third party integrations (like Quickbooks) can be useful, these integrations don't currently help our clients solve the major business pain points they're experiencing. For this reason, we have decided to discontinue support for our Quickbooks integration. As we look toward the future, we'll continue to incorporate client feedback into our product strategy and roadmap development in order to bring the right cutting-edge payment solutions to market at the right time.
